AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY FRENCH CHRONOSPHERE CLOCK, 'THE EMPIRE CLOCK'

THE EMPIRE CLOCK in an oval cartouche with Patent 19460, the 6-inch globe made up of twelve lithographed gores, with countries, principal cities, Russia is depicted as the "Russian Empire", the North Pacific, major topographic features and steamer routes and other details, supported on a clockwork driven rotating polar shaft, on a turned support, fitted for the Roman hour scale annotated Meridian ring, and an upturned arm supporting a brass lunar sphere, the top finial with a curved hour pointer, on a drum-shaped plinth base containing a French made eight-day movement stamped Made in France. 29.5cm high
