A MASSIVE GERMAN SILVER CENTREPIECE

by B. Neresheimer & Sohne, Hanau, late 19th Century, oval with an undulating rim, the body cast and chased with scrolls, rocaille and shells centering scenes of merpeople, dolphins and putti, one end with a fully modelled nymph draped in fishing nets and holding two fish aloft, the other end with a putto gripping a serpent, raised on a conforming domed base chased with scrolls and flowers. 54cm high, 141 troy ounces
