Auction: FINE ART & ANTIQUES, 19th Feb, 2026

The Fine Art & Antiques sale on 18 and 19 February presents a varied and carefully assembled catalogue spanning fine art, silver, ceramics, furniture and works of art from the 18th Century through to the modern period. The fine art section is particularly strong, with a notable group of British and European works on paper and paintings. Highlights include a Bloomsbury Group nude study by Duncan Grant, dated 1952 (lot 1025), offered with strong provenance, alongside landscapes and coastal views by artists such as Albert Goodwin, Philip Naviasky, Theodore Major, and Frank W. Mason, reflecting the enduring appeal of British landscape painting in the late 19th and 20th Centuries.

Decorative arts form a substantial component of the sale, led by an extensive group of Archibald Knox–designed Tudric pewter for Liberty & Co, including bowls and tablewares with characteristic Celtic-inspired decoration. Ceramics are well represented by 18th-Century English porcelain, including New Hall, Derby, and Worcester, as well as Continental examples such as a Ludwigsburg porcelain figure group from circa 1770.

The silver section ranges from early pieces to 20th-Century design, with highlights including a George IV silver-gilt vanity funnel by Paul Storr (London 1820), an unusual George III silver seal by Hester Bateman, and a variety of functional and novelty wares by makers such as John Collard Vickery, James Dixon & Sons, and Gerald Benney. Furniture and works of art include Regency and later mahogany tables, giltwood consoles, and a variety of decorative objects, while collectors will also find jewellery, coins, and specialist items such as a singing bird automaton and a tobacconist’s advertising figure.

Together, the catalogue offers a broad and accessible selection, combining recognised names with strong examples across multiple collecting fields.
