A PAIR OF DERBY PORCELAIN MAYFLOWER VASES AND COVERS, IN THE MEISSEN SCHNEEBALLEN MANNER, CIRCA 1770
pear form and encrusted with turquoise mayflowers, the covers with puce-coloured flower finials. (2) 12cm high
Purchased by the vendor in 1997 from David J. Thorn Antiques, Ceramics & Works of Art, Devon.
A similar pair of vases were in the Winifred Williams exhibition, held in 1973, 'Early Derby Porcelain 1750-70', see catalogue No.80. Also Sothebys 19-11-1996 Lot 251 for a garniture.
