by John Langlands I & John Goodrick, Newcastle 1756, of shaped oval form with a swing handle cast with grotesque heads, the border with a cast and pierced design of fruiting vines and laden baskets, the centre engraved with the arms of Mitford, raised on four ball and claw feet with shell and foliate capping. 25cm high overall, 35cm long, 29.5cm wide, 58.3 troy ounces

The arms are those of the Mitford family, an ancient Northumbrian family originally of Mitford Castle, who relocated in the 18th century to Exbury, Hampshire.
