by William Fountain, London 1819, shaped circular with lobed sides, the centres engraved with a coat of arms flanked by supports and below a crest. (4) 26cm diameter, 68.5 troy ounces gross
The arms belong to Richard Neville and his wife, Jane Neville, Lord and Lady Braybrooke of Audley End. Married in 1819, it is likely the dishes were a gift commemorating their union. Jane was born a Cornwallis, the daughter of Charles Cornwallis, the first Marquess of Cornwallis, who played a significant role in the American War of Independence.
