Angelica Bell, the daughter of Duncan Grant and Vanessa Bell, was commissioned to design the coffee set from which these pieces came for the 1934 Art in Industry exhibition at the age of just 16. The exhibition featured work by Paul Nash, Laura Knight, and her parents, produced by Clarice Cliff at Wilkinson's Pottery, Foley, and glass by Stevens & Williams.
