AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY IRANIAN (PERSIAN) SILVER TWO-HANDLED COVERED SUGAR BOWL

unmarked, Shiraz, c.1930, Pahlavi dynasty, of oval form upon a spreading circular foot, the hinged domed cover surmounted by a compressed knop finial, the body with chased decoration of figures within a vignette, one side with a seated King Darius before gift bearing emissaries, the obverse with the winged symbol of Ahura Mazda (Ormuzd) supreme god of the Zoroastrian from the Royal Audience Hall of Darius I at Persepolis, the upper section with a border of chased foliage against a textured ground. 18cm across the handles, 10.9 troy ounces
